At the invitation of the Minister of Climate and Environment, the representatives of government administration and stakeholders of the biogas and biomethane sector signed the “Agreement on cooperation for the development of the biogas and biomethane sectors”. The main goal is to use the Polish potential in this area.

Artur Zawisza, President of the Union of Producers and Employers of Biogas Industry, said that biogas and biomethane could become the banners of effective energy transformation. However it depends strongly on the implementation of the sectoral agreement – he added. As he reminded, biogas and biomethane are unique and unrepeatable when compared to the other RE sources : they are stable sources, produce non-stop, avoid emissions, and the  sector is dispersed.

The Government Plenipotentiary for RES, Ireneusz Zyska, informed that the regulations (based on the needs expressed by the biogas sector) that will guarantee the dynamic and stable development of the sector are in preparation. The regulations being drafted will effectively encourage investors to make decisions on the construction of installations for the production and purification of biogas or agricultural biogas, the production of biomethane and the expansion or reconstruction of existing gas networks in terms of enabling the injection of biomethane.

The parties to the Agreement are the representatives of government administration such as: Minister of Climate and Environment, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development,  Government Plenipotentiary for RES, Ministry of Education and Science, Government Plenipotentiary for Reform of the Functioning of Research Institutes, as well as the representatives of investors, of entities participating in the supply chain for the biogas sector and biomethane, business environment organisations, financial and insurance institutions and representatives of the world of science.
